Coordinating Your SurgeryOnce it is decided that you will have surgery at Lexington Regional, you will meet with our Surgical Care Coordinator. Your physician writes orders for your surgical procedure which make their way to our coordinator. They then schedule the procedure and contact you or you are sent straight from a doctor's clinic to visit with the coordinator. They then collect your health information and ensure that all pre-operative testing results are obtained.
Patients have the opportunity to pre-register in the business office as well as sign consents for surgery ahead of time. The Surgical Care Coordinator will answer any questions you may have about surgery and provide you with necessary information to help you prepare. It is also a time for the you to plan for post-operative recovery and identify needs. For scheduled procedures, this shortens the amount of time a you are required to be at the hospital before surgery and promotes safe, organized care focusing on optimal patient outcomes.
